PackLight privacy policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how PackLight handles information. PackLight is provided by Raduvis Studio (“Raduvis”, “we”, “us”). It applies to the PackLight app and to the web version at raduvis.com.

PackLight does not require an account. We do not collect, receive or store the information you enter, and PackLight contains no advertising or analytics software.

Information stored on your device

PackLight stores the information you enter on your device or, on the web, in your browser’s local storage for raduvis.com. This includes your trips, packing lists, travel dates, custom sections, item quantities and notes, optional traveller and bag labels, archived trips, cover photos, reminders and custom templates, together with the most recent weather summary for each trip.

A cover photo is a resized and compressed copy of the photo you choose. The original remains in your photo library, and cover photos are not uploaded.

If PackLight finds saved data that it cannot read, it retains a copy of that data in the same local storage rather than deleting it. These copies remain until PackLight’s data is removed from your device or browser.

Information we collect

We do not collect any information through PackLight. We have no access to your trips or packing lists and are unable to recover them on your behalf.

Weather

When a trip has a destination, PackLight sends the destination text directly from your device to the geocoding service provided by Open-Meteo, and then sends the resulting latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo’s forecast service. PackLight sends up to the first 80 characters of the destination and, if no match is found, up to three shorter versions of it. It does not send your trip name, packing list, reminders or any account identifier. We do not receive these requests.

Open-Meteo also receives technical information that accompanies any internet request, such as your IP address. Open-Meteo states that logs for its free service may contain IP addresses and coordinates and are deleted after 90 days. Further information is available at https://open-meteo.com/en/terms.

To reduce requests and keep weather available offline, PackLight stores the latest weather summary, resolved location and update time on your device, and refreshes them when they are more than six hours old. To stop weather requests for a trip, remove its destination.

Photos

PackLight accesses your photo library only when you choose a cover photo for a trip. PackLight does not access your camera or microphone.

Notifications

On iOS and Android, packing reminders are local notifications that are scheduled and delivered by your device.

On the web, PackLight uses your browser’s notification feature. Reminders, including the trip name and reminder time, are stored in your browser and can be shown while PackLight is open; a reminder that was recently missed may be shown when you return. PackLight does not use a push notification service, so reminders cannot be delivered while your browser is closed.

No reminder or notification data is sent to us or to any other server. You may decline or withdraw notification permission at any time.

Sharing and copying

PackLight shares information only at your request. When you choose Share packing list, a text copy of the list is passed to your device’s share sheet or, where that is unavailable, copied to your clipboard. The copy contains the trip name, destination and dates, and each item with its packed state, quantity, traveller, bag and notes.

If PackLight is unable to read your saved data, or encounters an error, it offers to copy your saved data so that you can keep it. That copy contains the text PackLight stores for your trips and templates. It does not normally include cover photos; in a browser, data saved by an earlier version of PackLight may still contain them.

PackLight does not choose the recipient and does not upload the copy. The app or service you select handles it under its own privacy policy.

Device backups

If backup is enabled on your device, your PackLight trips, lists and cover photos are included in that backup. This applies to iCloud Backup on iOS and to Google’s backup service on Android. Backups are held in your own Apple or Google account, are governed by Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy, and are not accessible to us.

On iOS you can exclude PackLight from iCloud Backup in your device settings. On Android you can turn backup off in your device’s backup settings.

Retention and deletion

Your information remains on your device or in your browser until you delete it. Removing the PackLight app deletes the data it has stored on that device. On the web, clearing site data for raduvis.com in your browser removes PackLight’s data from that browser. Copies held in a device backup are not affected and must be deleted separately.

Third-party services

PackLight uses Open-Meteo solely to look up destinations and retrieve weather forecasts, as described above. It does not use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking service. We do not sell or share your information.

The web version of PackLight is hosted by Vercel, which receives the technical information that accompanies any web request, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the app.

Children’s privacy

PackLight is a general-purpose travel tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If a future version of PackLight changes how information is handled, we will update this policy before that version is released and revise the effective date shown above.
